A dispute may concern promised allocations, vesting, redemption, misleading statements, custody or an unauthorised regulated activity. The first step is to identify the exact token, issuer, buyer, terms and jurisdiction. ## Which documents decide the claim? Preserve the purchase or allocation agreement, whitepaper and versions shown to the buyer, marketing, token terms, vesting schedule, wallet records, board approvals and messages. Compare the right promised in those records with the token and assets actually delivered. A website statement may matter, but its legal effect depends on the applicable law and facts. ## Was the launch regulated? VARA’s [Virtual Asset Issuance Rulebook](https://rulebooks.vara.ae/rulebook/virtual-asset-issuance-rulebook) distinguishes issuance categories and their conditions in Dubai outside DIFC. A token launch is not automatically the same as a licence to run an exchange, broker or custody service. Other regulators can apply when the token represents an investment, payment claim or activity outside VARA’s jurisdiction. The [VARA own-account investment rule](https://rulebooks.vara.ae/entiresection/15) includes a USD 250 million equivalent rolling-30-day registration threshold for a specified own-account activity. That threshold is **not** permission to issue tokens to the public or operate a licensed service. ## What remedies might matter? The route may be a contractual claim, misrepresentation claim, regulatory complaint, mediation, arbitration or court proceeding. The contract, forum, evidence and urgency determine what is available. There is no standard AED 10 million “TGE fine”, mandatory arbitration result or guaranteed freezing order merely because tokens are involved. When assets may move, preserve on-chain and off-chain records promptly and seek advice on the relevant forum before requesting urgent relief.
